Meet Benson!

Greetings!  My name is Benson, and I am an Old English Sheepdog.  I am so excited to share my life and adventures with all of you!

I was born on June 19th, 2011, and I came to my forever home on August 15.  I have lots of toys, room to run, and best of all, my uprights really love me!  I think I’ll stay.

My blog will be filled with tales of my adventures in the world.  I have a lot of learning and growing to do, and my uprights hope to take me with them to as many places as possible.  I’ll be sure to tell you all about the places we go, the things we do, and the friends (both two- and four-legged) that we meet along the way.

  1. Benson you are adorable..loved reading your blog! Can you ask your mommy about your breeder? I am looking for a wonderful dog just like you!

    • Hi, Lysa!

Mommy and Daddy brought me home from Rhoad’s Old English Sheepdogs (sheepdogs4you.com). Mommy really likes the way Betty breeds her dogs and raises their puppies. I know I was very happy there with my littermates! Plus, Mommy and Daddy let me keep my tail! Not many GOOD breeders will do that, but Betty will, if you ask her. (And she is a GOOD breeder.)

Mommy also says that I should be sure to tell you that we sheepies need lots of grooming, especially if you want to keep our coats long. She and Daddy brush and comb me for at least two hours a week, sometimes even more! Some of my sheepie friends don’t need quite so much brushing, because their uprights keep their coats trimmed short.

We are also very smart dogs! (Mommy says sometimes I’m too smart for my own good!) We like to have things to do, and if we don’t, we’ll find some way to entertain ourselves. That’s why I’ve started weightpulling, and I’m learning to pull a cart, too. My friend Chewie does all that, and shows, and does agility, and is a certified therapy dog, too! He’s a very busy sheepie!

If you want to find out more about sheepies from people who really know all about us, you should check out forum.oes.org. There are TONS of really smart uprights there who own sheepies, and some who breed them, too. They can tell you all about us, like why they call us “velcro dogs” and the “clowns” of the dog world.

I’m glad you like my blog! I hope you keep reading, because there are a lot of new adventures coming up very soon!
